Angelite is the trade name for a soft blue to lilac-blue form of anhydrite, a calcium sulfate mineral. It has a gentle, pastel colour and a smooth, soft appearance. Angelite is soft at about 3.5 on the Mohs scale, and anhydrite can absorb water and slowly change into gypsum, so it must be kept dry.
