About Kunzite

Kunzite is the pink to lilac variety of the mineral spodumene. It is named after George F. Kunz, the famous American gemmologist. Kunzite has a hardness of about 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale but has strong cleavage, so it can split if knocked. It is also known for fading with prolonged exposure to light, which is why it is sometimes called an "evening stone".
